TAGUM CITY, Davao
— City Mayor Allan Rellon said the city is preparing to meet a new round of employment boom with the rising of Robinsons Mall next year. Rellon said the city government has been launching massive workers’ profiling and skills training activities to prepare them for expected jobs’ demand in the operations of Robinsons Mall, which is expected to start construction in the first quarter next year.

“We are readying ourselves so that, say when they need for 500 workers we can easily supply them a list of workers residing in Tagum City,” he said. He said Robinsons alone needs more than 1,000 workers.
Rellon said that based from a Robinsons’ second letter to him two weeks ago, the company’s investment fund is already on the pipeline.“I am confident that next year the construction of Robinsons will start,” he said. Robinsons Mall was earlier reported to be constructed at Barangay Canocotan, along the national highway.

The SM Mall is expected to follow suit, Mayor Rellon added, saying the company is still negotiating to buy the lot adjacent to what it had earlier bought along the national highway fronting the NCCC Mall.
